The English version of the Italian Cardiological Guidelines for Competitive Sport Eligibility in athletes with heart disease was originally published in 2013. This update includes has five main sections: arrhythmias, ion channel disorders, congenital heart diseases, acquired valve diseases, cardiomyopathies, myocarditis and pericarditis and ischemic heart disease. The authors recommend using this update and the original guidelines. These guidelines are more restrictive than recent European and American guidelines because it focuses on competitive athletes.
