The American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) and the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) organized a multidisciplinary and international task force to define the state‐of‐the art in cell‐based therapies and identify gaps in knowledge and methods. The hope is to provide researchers and clinicians with a better understanding of the current state of the science and research needed to advance the use of cell‐based therapies for skeletal tissues. A Table in the document summarizes the primary findings and recommendations for 5 key questions. Discussed therapies include stem/progenitor cells, pluripotent stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, platelet-rich plasma, conditioned medium, etc.
