An expert panel addressed several essential tasks: 1) identifying risk factors for injury or illness in a youth runner, 2) providing recommendations for injury and illness risk screening among youth runners, and 3) offering “recommendations for adequate nutrition, safe training loads and readiness for youth runners to minimise potential negative impacts of distance running”. After a systematic review and consensus meetings, the panel offered 30 recommendations. The document concludes with 7 summary recommendations.
