The American Medical Society for Sports
Medicine (AMSSM) has released a position statement regarding interventional musculoskeletal
ultrasound in sports medicine. “The purpose of this position statement is to evaluate
the accuracy, efficacy and cost-effectiveness of US-guided injections (USGIs)
in major, intermediate and small joints, and soft tissues, all of which are
commonly performed in sports medicine.” After a detailed results section there
is a discussion, which provides several position statements.
