Reliability of an inexpensive and portable dynamic weight bearing asymmetry assessment system incorporating dual Nintendo Wii Balance Boards.
Clark RA, McGough R, Paterson K. Gait Posture. 2011 Jun;34(2):288-91.
The purpose of this study was to assess the test-retest reliability (repeatability) of weight-bearing asymmetry and postural sway (via center of pressure velocity) during squats performed by 23 young and healthy participants. Data was collected with two Nintendo Wii Balance Boards (one for each foot) and customized software. This is the second article by the lead author that suggests these commercially available balance boards (with customized software) may be used in clinics to assess weight bearing asymmetry and postural sway.
