The National Athletic Trainers’ Association has released a
position statement which “summarizes the best available scholarly evidence
related to anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) as a reference for health care
professionals, including athletic trainers, educators, and interested others.”
The position statement represents a thorough document covering basic science,
therapeutic uses and nontherapeutic abuses, efficacy, abuse health effects,
abuse prevention, abuse identification and intervention, history of AAS,
epidemiology of AA abuse, AAS pharmacology, etc.
