NASN position statement: the role of the school nurse and school-based health centers.
Bannister A, Kelts S. NASN Sch Nurse. 2011 May;26(3):196-7.
The National Association of School Nurses released a new position statement indicating that a combination of school nursing services and school-based health centers can promote positive health outcomes for students. School-based health centers are staffed by a multidisciplinary team (e.g., nurse practitioners, physicians, social workers) and provide comprehensive preventive and primary health care services to students at a school.
One of the services offered by the school-based health centers is “physical examinations for school entrance or sport participation.”
