The International Olympic Committee released a consensus statement on relative energy deficiency in sports (REDs). The authors provided a box with a nice summary of key definitions. The document is includes by two graphics and tables to explain the conceptual models for REDs impact on health and performance outcomes. The authors also discuss screening, risk/severity assessment and clinical diagnosis, prevention ,and treatment. The issue with this consensus statement includes an array of reviews supporting the main document. These include primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention of REDs ass well as the intersection of mental health issues and REDs.
