The authors discuss the history of caffeine in sport; caffeine sources; caffeine legality in sport; caffeine pharmacokinetics; mechanism of action; endurance exercise; muscular endurance, strength, and power; and sport-specific performance; and variation in response to caffeine (including side effects).
