The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Consensus Group offered a critical assessment of the science and practice of ophthalmologic issues and illness in high-level sports. The authors discuss 1) epidemiology of sports-related ophthalmology issues, 2) eye anatomy, 3) trauma to the orbit, adnexa, and eye globe, 4) targeted history and assessment of the athlete’s eye, 5) other relevant eye conditions (e.g., visual symptoms after a concussion, ultraviolet light exposure), 6) prevention, and 7) vision and performance.
