The European Psychiatric Association has released a position statement on physical activity as a treatment for severe mental illness. The goal of this review and position statement was to 1) describe the benefits of physical activity or exercise across all types of severe mental illness; 2) examine how these benefits may differ across specific types of severe mental illness; and 3) offer guidance for clinical practice, policy and future research.
