The European Psychiatric Association has
released a position statement on physical activity as a treatment for severe
mental illness. The goal of this review and position statement was to 1) describe
the benefits of physical activity or exercise across all types of severe mental
illness; 2) examine how these benefits may differ across specific types of
severe mental illness; and 3) offer guidance for clinical practice, policy and
future research.
