The Journal of
Orthopaedics and Traumatology published a consensus statement on the management
of internal rotation and instability of the anterior cruciate ligament
deficient knee. The authors provide a broad review on several key aspects:
history, clinical anatomy of the anterolateral ligament, radiographic anatomy,
biomechanics, clinical diagnosis, diagnostic imaging procedures, surgical
indications, acute lesions, consensus group surgical technique, post-operative
protocol, clinical outcomes, anterolateral ligament and ACL revision
reconstruction, as well as future directions and conclusions.
