The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine released a position statement regarding
concussions in sports. The purpose of this statement was “to provide an evidence-based,
best practises summary to assist physicians with the evaluation and management
of sports concussion” and “to establish the level of evidence, knowledge gaps,
and areas requiring additional research.” The statement includes a thorough
description of the pathophysiology, epidemiology, as well as diagnosis and
management of concussions.
