The American
College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons
released a Clinical Consensus Statement
on the diagnosis and treatment of adult acquired infracalcaneal heel pain. The document
includes 12 main statements and another 4 that were deemed uncertain (neither
appropriate nor inappropriate). In addition to the statements, the document covers
the anatomy of the plantar fascia; histologic properties of the plantar fascia;
definitions of fasciitis, fasciosis, and fasciopathy; epidemiology of plantar
fasciitis, etiology of plantar fasciitis, and biomechanics of plantar fasciitis.
