The American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists has developed a consensus statement “to aid
clinical decision making during the rehabilitation of patients after
arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.” After an introduction the statement
describes the methods of development and lists the key recommendations.
Next, the statement outlines the postoperative rehabilitation guideline to
promote healing through milestone-based patient progression focusing on a
series of phases: Phase 1 (0 to 6 weeks), Phase 2 (6 to 12 weeks), Phase 3 (12
to 20 weeks), and Phase 4 (20 to 26 weeks). The document also advises on
frequency and format of supervised rehabilitation as well as management of
complications.
