The American College of Radiology released an evidence-based guideline to define “best practices for imaging evaluation for several variants of patients presenting with acute ankle trauma”. The document addresses 6 scenarios when Ottawa Rules can and cannot be evaluated as well as specific injuries. To document starts with 6 clinical scenarios. Each scenario has a brief table listing various imaging procedures, their level of appropriateness, and relative radiation level. The authors provide a literature review and a detailed discussion of each clinical scenario.
