The 3rd
International Patellofemoral Pain Research Retreat, which was held in Vancouver
in September 2013, has released a consensus statement regarding patellofemoral
pain. The consensus statement contains 4 main sections: 1) Natural history of patellofemoral pain and
local (knee region) factors that influence patellofemoral pain, 2) Trunk and
distal factors that influence patellofemoral pain, 3) Innovations in
rehabilitation of patellofemoral pain, and 4) General recommendations for
future directions. The first three sections include subsections describing “what
have we learned?” and “future advances required to understand patellofemoral
pain and its treatment”.
